Phishing and fraud alert
We wish to alert our clients and the general public of online fraud and other con tricks. We have encountered a number of fraud attempts where the fraudster impersonating a BNP Paribas employee would try to get sensitive information or banking details from corporates or individuals by contacting them by email, telephone or otherwise.
Be careful
- Be wary of emails which you are not expecting that appear to be from a BNP Paribas email address and contain links to websites urging you to provide personal or financial information. Do not reply to, click on any link or open any attachment unless you are sure that the email is genuine.
- Even if the phone number displayed on your phone seems to be correct, attackers can easily use a service that allows a caller to masquerade as someone else by falsifying the number that appears on the recipient’s caller ID display. Please note that BNP Paribas will never call and ask you to transfer money or share personal or banking details.
- For individuals: Be wary of any contact being made where the caller or sender claims to represent BNP Paribas, especially if you are asked to transfer money or share personal or banking details, as this most likely is a fraud attempt.
